West SILC is an all-age special school for children and young people with learning difficulties. Admission to the school is via an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) which describes the provision that they need to support their learning.  All pupils have the right to remain in the school until the end of the school year in which they reach 19 years of age. Admissions may take place at any time of the year if places are available. All of our students have learning difficulties, but this term covers a very wide range of problems. These include some students who may need a great deal of extra support during their school life and beyond. We also have some students who have a range of other problems such as hearing loss, visual impairment and physical difficulties. Where appropriate we try to have our students included in mainstream education.

We are able to meet the needs of children and young people with Moderate Learning Difficulties, Severe Learning Difficulties, Complex and Multiple Learning Needs, Autism and Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.
